Over time, your cabin air filter will become clogged with dust, leaves, hair, and other debris, leading to reduced cabin air flow. Toyota recommends replacing the cabin air filter every 10,000 miles, and charges a premium to do it. Follow this guide to replace your cabin air filter and save yourself money and time. Replacement will take about 5 minutes, and requires no tools. I used the STP CAF1816P cabin air filter found at a local auto parts store, but the Corolla will accept a variety of aftermarket cabin air filters, including the TYC 800025P and the FRAM CF10285.

Gently lower the glovebox to the floor. It should hang in the position shown.
What about the storage box above the glove box that blocks access to the filter? Is there enough room as shown to swing open the filter door access without removing the your box as well?

This is great! Thank you so much :) Saved $80
The direction of airflow is definitely from top to bottom. I stuck a piece of paper in while the cabin filter was out with fan running, it pulled the paper downward. Be careful not to let the paper go too low because it will hit the fan just a couple inches below the filter compartment.
Very useful. TY
I’m an 85 year old widow and I can follow these detailed instructions. Thank you very much.
Very useful . Very well explained with detailed pictures
Your instructions are the best! The new filter can have an "up" arrow or an "airflow" arrow. You are the only one that explained the air flow properly! Thanks!
