  6. Locate the thermal fuse. Test the thermal fuse for continuity using the multimeter.

    • The circuit is closed and properly functioning if the multimeter displays varying numbers.

Does anybody know what is the small silver cylinder next to the thermal fuse? It is inline with the neutral AC from the handle switch, looks like it could be a diode or possibly a resistor, though it really resembles nothing I have seen before. My inoperable unit shows no continuity through this device either direction, so I presume it is bad….but I have no idea what to replace it with!

This is the thermostat, not the “thermal fuse’’ !!
