This is a quick overview of how to get to the main board, similar to the X100T, although not as exhaustive.
I do NOT suggest anyone attempt this unless they have a high degree of experience fixing electronic devices, especially soldering on electronic boards.

Beyond the screws at the bottom, there is one that needs to be removed from the side, underneath the focus selector button. This is one of the screws holding both the back and the bottom.
-
Peel the leatherette back slightly on the back panel to access it. You'll need to pull back the top corner on this side as well, there's another screw back there.
-
-
-
To remove the port cover, peel back the leatherette on the front just enough to expose the plastic insert. Both the port cover and the insert will slide out. This cover can be carefully shimmied out without removing the leatherette as shown.
-
After you've unscrewed the 2 screws next to the ports, of course ;)

Remove this last screw holding the back plate on the port side.
-
On the other side peel the top corner of the back plate to see the last screw you need to unfasten.
-
There are 5 screws in total holding the back to the camera: 2 screws next to the ports, 1 screw behind the port cover (left), and 2 on the other side, 1 of which also holds the bottom plate.
-
Gently remove the ribbon connecting the back to the main board.

-
Remove the 5 screws holding the heat shield to the camera.
-
Pay attention to the speaker and its wires at the bottom.
-
-
-
Gently remove all the ribbons attached to the top of the main board.
-
The speaker and focus selector ribbon have a white tape - gently unstick it.
-
There is only one screw holding the main board down - underneath the ribbon at the bottom left corner.
-
-
-
On the back of the main board there is one last ribbon to remove.
-
Using a precision soldering iron remove the 4 connected wires and solder them onto the replacement board.

It should be easy to remove it after removing the back, step 3 above. I haven't had to deal with it.

If anybody's in the same position like me where you need to replace the LCD screen: I was able to do it but there's a bunch of weird adhesives. I don't know how to correctly deal with them but here's what I did.
There's a piece of copper foil connecting to the back of the screen with adhesive (I don't know if it's conductive). It wasn't that hard to separate it. When it comes to reassembling, I just stuck it back using the remainders of the adhesive it already had. Not sure if it's a good idea. It's possible it comes undone in future.
But the biggest pain was the transparent plastic film on the back of the screen, which had a little PCB and flex cables on top. Removing this film without breaking the PCB was a complete nightmare. I ended up tearing the film right around the edges of the PCB. I don't own a hot air station and I was also afraid of desoldering the PCB elements. In the end I just used plastic spudgers and some tweezers.
The old screen also had a black tape around the border

Eugene is right, this is much more of a pain than it was for the X100t, and none of the replacements available have the adhesive or anything. I ended up putting a big sticker over the back, holding everything in place.

Hi, my X100F looses all settings after turning off/on (I did not even remove the main battery). I suspect I might have a dead internal battery, so I followed your instruction to find it on the mainboard, but got no luck locating it.
Do you happen to know the internal battery's location? Thanks!
