Use a heat gun to melt the old epoxy holding the club head to the old shaft.
Caution: Heat guns can get very hot, so use caution when handling them.

With a pair of oven mitts, remove the club head by carefully twisting it from the shaft.

Cleaning the club head will make applying the new epoxy effective.

Place the cleaned club head on the new shaft and mark the where the end of the club head reaches on the shaft.
Remove the club head.

Take some sand paper and sand the shaft past your mark leading to the tip.
A good technique is to wrap the sandpaper around the tip while twisting the hand holding the sandpaper back and forth.
