Most components that need to be replaced are inside the base of the laptop. The computer will need to be disassembled in order to reach the inner components. You will remove the battery before delving into the innards of your computer. If you just came here for a battery guide, simply follow to step two and then reassemble!

  1. Flip the computer over so that the bottom cover is facing you. Slide the two locks to the "unlock" position and remove the battery.

  2. Remove the two 8mm screws underneath with a Phillips #1 screwdriver. Use a plastic opening tool to remove the plastic feet. Use a plastic opening tool to remove the plastic feet.

  9. Close the lid and pull the screen and keyboard section up and away from the disconnected bottom cover.

    • The hard drive is NOT screwed into place on the underside of the keyboard section.

    Note that before you remove the bottom cover, there are three plastic snaps on the back of the PC where the battery would go. These have to be detached before the entire bottom cover can be freed from the top panel.
