  1. How to Clean the Dyson DC14 Cyclone/Internal Channels, Remove Canister: adım 1, 1 resimden 1.
    • Remove the canister, shown to the left, from your DC17 vacuum. The canister contains the cyclone's internal channels, which are within the gray plastic housing.

    • The cyclone will be separated from the canister in the next step.

  2. How to Clean the Dyson DC14 Cyclone/Internal Channels, Disassemble Canister: adım 2, 2 resimden 1. How to Clean the Dyson DC14 Cyclone/Internal Channels, Disassemble Canister: adım 2, 2 resimden 2.
    • Turn the canister around and locate the latch that secures the outer housing of the canister to the cyclone assembly, and push it upwards.

    • Now, free the cyclone assembly from the clear, plastic canister housing.

  3. How to Clean the Dyson DC14 Cyclone/Internal Channels: adım 3, 1 resimden 1.
    • Clean the inside of the cyclone assembly out. Use a cloth to clean; the more dust you can clear the less dust will end up in the exhaust of your vacuum.

    • If you have an air compressor, don't be afraid to use it to blow the dust out of all the nooks and crannies of the cyclone assembly. This is a very sturdy component, and the strong air currents will not damage it.

The cyclone parts can be broken down and individually cleaned, as well. I have two cannisters for my DC14. I disassemble them and run them under warm water to get most the dust and dirt out. Then I run the disassembled canister through the dishwater, removing the parts before the drying cycle. Let dry thoroughly before reassembling.

I just run the water hose through mine then let it dry completely before putting it back together and especially before using.

It's all plastic so it can't hurt anything.

This can be done, but can be problematic if it is not cleaned thoroughly (not just in part you can see but the cyclone chamber that is above the little holes in the graphics) the dust will turn into clay pieces which sound like rocks during operation. If not allowed to fully dry BEFORE reassembly (48 hours) the cyclone chamber will mildew resulting in a bad smell coming from the vac exhaust during operation (possibly damaging the rubber seals as a result) and since the chamber is above the little holes you can see it's difficult to resolve once it's occurred.

I soak mine in a bucket overnight, I'll NEVER get all the dirt out of the middle part, it's unreachable, but this gets a LOT of the dirt out. Then I run water from the hose thru and shake it a bunch so more dirt (hopefully) comes loose. Then let dry completely!

I fully disassembled this canister by removing the screws on top and was able to clean the whole piece like new..

Great tips to clean your Dyson Vac. However, I just call my carpet cleaning guy for this daunting job. They offer a professional central vacuum cleaning for free when you purchase a cleaning service from them. If I am not wrong, the company is called Golden Line Green Care if you’d like check out if they are serving in your area.

Also clean the filer at the top of the unit - it opens by a tiny latch that says “filter”. Take out the filth and wash the filter - let it dry COMPLETELY - at least 12 hours.
