This repair guide will give instructions on how to remove the Macintosh PowerBook 1400c RAM.

  1. Turn the device upside down and then locate the battery latch near the front of the device.
    • Turn the device upside down and then locate the battery latch near the front of the device.

  2. Slide the latch to the left to release the battery.

  3. Continue holding the latch then gently pull the battery out of the device.
    • Continue holding the latch then gently pull the battery out of the device.

    • Place the battery in a safe location.

  4. Locate the CD-ROM Drive latch.
    • Locate the CD-ROM Drive latch.

  5. Slide the latch to the right to release the CD ROM drive.
    • Slide the latch to the right to release the CD ROM drive.

  6. Continue holding the latch then gently pull the CD-ROM Drive out of the device.
    • Continue holding the latch then gently pull the CD-ROM Drive out of the device.

    • Place the CD ROM drive in a safe location.

  7. Locate the speaker cover.
    • Locate the speaker cover.

  8. Press firmly on each end of the speaker cover and slide it to the left.
    • Press firmly on each end of the speaker cover and slide it to the left.

  9. Gently lift the speaker cover to remove it.
    • Gently lift the speaker cover to remove it.

  10. Lift the keyboard up from the back using a spudger(wedge side).
    • Lift the keyboard up from the back using a spudger(wedge side).

  11. Gently lift the keyboard until only the ribbon cable remains attached.
    • Gently lift the keyboard until only the ribbon cable remains attached.

  12. Tilt the keyboard away from the screen.
    • Tilt the keyboard away from the screen.

  13. Locate the six screws that secure the heatsink.
    • Locate the six screws that secure the heatsink.

  14. Remove the six screws from the heatsink using the Philips #1 screwdriver.
    • Remove the six screws from the heatsink using the Philips #1 screwdriver.

  15. Lift the heatsink from the side closest to the laptop screen.
    • Lift the heatsink from the side closest to the laptop screen.

  16. Remove the heatsink.
    • Remove the heatsink.

  17. Gently pull up on the beige ribbon lock until it moves a short distance on both sides to separate the ribbon cable from the connector.

  18. Detach the ribbon cable.
    • Detach the ribbon cable.

  19. Remove the keyboard.
    • Remove the keyboard.

  20. Identify RAM Memory stick
    • Identify RAM Memory stick

    • These are the upgradeable RAM Memory sticks, they must be removed first

  21. Gently grasp the ram on the far end as shown in the picture and then pull up and away from the right side of the computer

  22. Remove the upgradeable RAM stick
    • Remove the upgradeable RAM stick

    • If the upgradeable RAM stick is all you are repairing you can end the guide here, however to remove the factory installed RAM please continue

  23. Gently grasp the factory installed RAM by grabbing each end as shown in the picture and pull the stick directly up

  24. Remove the factory installed RAM memory module
    • Remove the factory installed RAM memory module

Sonuç

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
