This guide will assist with the replacement of the Sony Vaio PCG-7184L's optical drive. Please review the Troubleshooting Guide before replacing your optical drive.

  1. Sony Vaio PCG-7184L (VGN-NW240F) Optical Drive Replacement, Optical Drive: adım 1, 1 resimden 1.

    • Locate and unscrew the two highlighted 8 mm Phillips #1 screws.

    • There will be three dots next to the desired screws

    • Grip the cover of the optical drive and slide it out.

    • If it does not come out, do not force it. Double check to make sure the screws are entirely removed.

Has anyone found a suitable optical enclosure that would accommodate the front edge of this drive? Every enclosure I've seen so far would have the door protruding past the enclosure's opening (as opposed to sitting flush with the enclosure's opening), leaving its top edge unprotected.
