Use a pair of tweezers to disconnect the touchpad ribbon cable from the motherboard by gripping the blue pull tab and pulling away from the connector.

This connector can be difficult to disconnect. If you grip the pull tab by the sides, as shown in the picture, squeeze just hard enough to grip the tab to avoid bending the tab and ribbon cable.
