PH vs JIS

  • Bits with the prefix "J" and "PH" are often thought to be the same bit. Don't be fooled by their similar appearance—they are quite different.

  • Phillips (PH) screws are designed to make a Phillips screwdriver cam out if too much torque is applied. This prevents damage to screws and screwdrivers or bits.

  • Japanese Industrial Standard (J) screws do not provide a cam-out option, and have 90 degree corners.

  • J (or JIS) and PH (Phillips) driver bits are not always interchangeable. As you can see, they do not share identical physical properties.

PH versus JIS

Bitjes met het voorvoegsel "J" en "PH" worden vaak als hetzelfde bitje beschouwd. Laat je niet misleiden door hun gelijkwaardige uiterlijk—ze zijn namelijk behoorlijk verschillend.

Phillips- of kruiskopschroeven (PH) zijn ontworpen om een kruiskopschroevendraaier uit de schroefkop te laten schieten (cam-out) als er te veel koppel wordt uitgeoefend. Dit voorkomt schade aan de schroeven(draaiers) en/of bitjes.

Japanse industriële standaard (J) schroeven bieden geen cam-out optie en hebben hoeken van 90 graden (zie verschil afbeeldingen).

J (of JIS) en PH (Phillips; in het Nederlands 'kruiskop') schroevendraaierbitjes zijn dus niet altijd uitwisselbaar. Zoals je kunt zien, delen ze niet dezelfde fysieke eigenschappen.
