Replacement battery has thin film on each section do I need to remove?

None of the tutorials or images of the replacement battery I've seen seem to have this thin film over each battery. Am I supposed to remove them?

Peal it off. It's a protective shipping covering. Leaving it on will cause the battery to retain more heat than it should.

As I posted elsewhere:

This is incorrect. Per an example battery listing on Amazon: "Each cell has a layer of plastic film attached to it. This is used to protect the cells. Please do not remove them."

And:

"Do I need to remove the film from the battery? it is difficult

Answer: No, in fact leave the clear adhesive plastic film on, since removing it can tear the thin black plastic cover over the battery.

This information came directly to me from the company, after I had taken the clear plastic off, and they had to send me a replacement battery."

The iFixit guide here: MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Battery Replacement states: "Note: If there is a thin plastic film on your replacement battery, do not attempt to remove it. It is glued on and protects the battery pack while it is inside the MacBook."

Maybe some batteries ship with plastic film that is removable, some do not, so telling users to just remove it poses a risk to the user and may damage their equipment.

The film is die cut exact dimension of the outline of the battery pack. The heat retention is minimal, the benefit of a durable electric insulator between the metal bottom plate and lithium batteries would be the better insurance against any possible short.

In his case maybe but for the one I just got which was a 3rd party Chinese replacement (macbook pro) I wouldn't advise it. I've replaced a macbook air 2013 battery before and there was a layer that wasn't meant to be peeled off... I half peeled some of it off and realised it couldn't be this hard if you were meant to do it!

You can leave it there. The film has no impact on the functionality of the batteries. Is just a transport protection.

Thanks all who say to keep the 4 clear films on; the eBay seller for my A1466 sent no instructions bar basic usermanual which just mentions first charging etc., but found a fairly good YouTube.

First charge taking over 3 hours still not 100% at time of writing!

Also to mention so much dust inside mine needs a camera type soft brush to clean very carefully.
