Hard drive died in one of our iMacs. Actually, we just wanted to have a legitimate reason to buy ifixit's heavy-duty suction cups. Such fun!

Well, as you can see from the photos, we used a time machine and revisited the medieval period to perform this repair (we had some unfinished business, and afterall, Camelot is known for its Knight life). Using the suction cups was memorable. Removing the bezel was easy enough. We ended up not disconnecting the inverter cables because we had plenty of hands to hold the lcd. Removing the hard drive required a bit of force as expected, but our valiant knight took care of it without incident. Aligning the LCD back onto the frame took a few tries, as the inverter cables kept moving around. The iMac was put back together with ease, although our wrists are still sore from unscrewing about 20 tightly wound screws. Heh.

Don't just rely on MJ's tutorial video (http://youtu.be/3w6E2_XqaBw) - read the step by step guide a few times before attempting repair. In addition to the tools/supplies needed, you may need tape for attaching the hard drive temperature sensor to your new hd. We didn't have any handy, which was a slight inconvenience. Don't leave the suction cups on your workbench - people will want to put them on suspect body parts.
