I own a few 1st & 2nd Gens and it is pretty much impossible to update it with an SDXC or Compact Flash cards. Have tried iFlash adapter as well as the generic CF to 50-pin ATA. Don't know why it doesn't like them. As for as the Firewire port, digikey or mouser is your best bet.
No, changing the battery does not erase the content in the hard drive. I believe it's possible to retrieve photos. iPods store its content on a hidden folder.
A really, really stupid design having this type of connector that you suppose to pry up the tap to release the cable. The white plastic part of the connector is not secured to the logic board at all. So when you pry up on the brown tap u can easily lift the whole thing off. Again, dumb design Apple.
Yeah, this battery connector is extremely fragile if you pry too hard you will lift the whole connector plastic off the board. A really, really bad design from Apple having that type of connector like that. The white plastic part is not secure at all to the logic board so when you pry the tab up, you may lift the whole thing up.
Apple has lost their mind with that soldered SSD
Yeah this has the same BCM20733 Bluetooth chip as the mouse and keyboard but yet Apple says it requires a Mac with BT 4.0?
Disposable mouse once the battery goes.
You can buy the whole connector from Chinese sellers on eBay for like 7-8 dollars.
