The device needs to be able to connect with four GPS satellites in order to calculate your location. The time it takes may vary depending on weather conditions, location, and a number of other variables. You need to install either MyDrive Connect or TomTom HOME on your computer in order to update your device. Links to download these applications can be found on the TomTom VIA 1605TM support page.
