Thanks Jordan...That's the exact process I used last week when the customer was having jams at the fuser area. It was'nt the fuser or exit assembly, it was the black gear in the swing plate area. Swing plate replacement in an HP P 4015 style laser printer.

On this model make sure you clean the encoder strip that the print head slides through. It gets excess ink on it and loses its way. Also check the printhead bottom to make sure it isn't coagulated at its base.Always brush the drive gears with a clean tooth brush. ( Best cleaning solution is a windex mix )

The inkjets print heads get so coagulated that ink won't pass through the fine ink jets within the print head. Using the on board cleaning solution seldom fixes this issue, once it gets that bad. In most cases the print head can be soaked in a solution of "ink be gone" and brought back to life. Most of the cases we see at our shop are black ink related, but sometimes the colors. If we cant fix the issue we recycle the machine at no cost to the customer, in most cases. Update (10/05/2016): This particular Office jet does'nt have a removable print head, so you have to remove the top cover to get access to the print head. Using a lint free cloth or durable fabric dampen cloth with "windex", fold cloth to be able to slide cloth underneath the print head. Note: you will probably have to unplug the printer when the print head is close to the center, so you can slide print head over this saturated cloth. Let the cloth sit for a couple hours, remove, repeat for a couple minutes removing the final buildup on the...

Most likely its a faulty toner... The focus would be on the Yellow or Cyan toner. Access the control panel on this printer by going to print menu to print "color self test page" when printed this should show you the faulty toner by its off color appearance on the printout.

Make sure you cancel all jobs from your printer queue, unplug your USB connection from printer, and print a self test via the printer itself. After jobs are deleted from system, plug USB connection back in and send a job to the printer. If this fails to work, your formattor board might be faulty.

Usually when an accordian jam occurs in this type of printer, it happens in the exit / fuser area. Replacing the exit delivery rollers RF5-1076 and 1077 that are located in the back of printer will fix this accordian jam issue, otherwise its the fuser assembly.

If the display went from good clarity to no clarity, its not the display itself. Check the Dimm chip in the Formattor, or change out the Formattor. You can also do an engine test which will tell if your DC Controller board is okay. Sometimes known as a line test, most laser printer will have a tiny hole on the side of the printer that can be pushed in with a pencils tip.
