If you plan on using the tweezers that are suggested, please be careful as they are metal, and there are two diodes nearby that you can accidentally touch while trying to grab the battery connector. I know....I got a spark out of one. Fortunately nothing was damaged. I then used a sharp, small paring knife and placed it on the small "ridge" on the connector, and gently tapped it until it slid right off.
Been using them for years...works great.
I suggest that you remove the CD-DVD drive BEFORE removing the back cover.
I found these videos useful in showing how to pry off the cover, and for a bit of added info on battery and hard drive.
Personally found this VERY easy. Less than 15 minutes to do. Took longer to find one of the TEENY screws I dropped putting it back together.
Personally I found this more of a pain in the ass than difficult. I would give it a moderate to moderately difficult. I only propped up the keyboard enough to remove the hard drive. Thus eliminating the need to fiddle with the ribbon cables for the keyboard. I replaced the drive with a SSD and used double sided foam sticky tape instead of replacing the rubber rails...pain in the ass, and who cares, the tape worked better anyway. Took me about 30 minutes.
Question - Is this the same procedure for the Frontier model of the S3?
You don’t have to disconnect the drive. Just move it out of the way.
Be VERY gentle lifting STRAIGHT up on this clip or you can snap it off. Thank God for super glue.
