Dropping 2 or 4 drops of isopropyl alcohol on the strips as I pulled made a big difference, highly recommend. It allowed the strips to slide more easily on the end of the battery as I pulled. Removing the haptic was also easy and helpful, thank you!
Friendly warning: Make sure the adhesive remover evaporates before connecting the new battery!
I successfully changed the battery in my 2015 MacBook Pro, everything powered on just fine, then I put it in my neoprene sleeve. The next morning I noticed some of the adhesive remover on my keyboard. I wiped it off, powered it on and then it suddenly shut down. After a couple more tries I could no longer get it to power on. It was dead. Took it to a repair shop and they concluded it was most likely liquid damage to the logic board. Total bummer. I have sense learned that the adhesive remover itself is not conductive, but it can dissolve something like glue, and then become conductive. The adhesive remover also cools as it evaporates which attracts moisture. So please make sure your adhesive remover evaporates completely before connecting your new battery.
Thanks for the great tutorial! I had success without completely removing the screen. I used rubbing alcohol while pulling the adhesive strips. Took a good 10 minutes of pulling and stopping every once in a while to add a bit more alcohol, but the strips came out whole. Reminder: make sure the alcohol evaporates before powering on the device (it is not conductive, but it might mix with the adhesive and become conductive).
I measured my battery and it is 40mm x 14mm x 30mm. The space for the battery looks like I can fit something as long as 45mm. I can not find anything in the US. Going to try these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-7V-1200mAh-10.... Pretty annoying that I can not find something to drop in. The most challenging part of this repair is going to be wiring these two Lipos together properly. Does anyone know the voltage of the 3 wires? My battery is completely dead so I cannot get a voltage reading. I am going to have to plug the camera in, plug the battery connector in and get the voltage from there :)
