Had the same problem--apple genius, after video test, reported GPU failed, replace logic board. They offered a replacement logic board for $310 (including two way overnite shipping and labor). Told me that free fixes ended 12/2013. I had the fix done and I'm hoping for reimbursement either via executive letter or class action. Now I'm looking for a torture test for the Nvidia 330M gpu.
With the macbook standing in a A position, i was able to squirt a bit of solvent above each cell, then work kite string attached to empty thread spools to cut thru the adhesive. Took about a minute per cell. The last double-middle pair I started with the string, but then was able to slip in the plastic cards to complete the job. Hooray for not having to disassemble the entire laptop!
That was the hardest fix on anything i've ever done. Reseating the small push connector cable for the fingerprint reader was really hard. Separating the screen was really hard. Reseating the screen was really hard. The connector on the bottom speaker needs to be specifically routed--be careful. And the adhesive that came with the ifixit google kit was terrible--half the pieces had lifted from the backing plastic in transit, and reseating the screen in exactly the right place is HARD. Bottom line--this job was hard, and it's done, and everything works, and I no longer trust the liquid proof-ness of my phone. But i'm glad the charge port now works.
