There are a few ways to add applications to the dock: (1) Drag the application icon from the Finder to the dock. (2) While the application is open, drag the icon up or tp the left on your dock until its with the other apps that stay in the dock. (3) While the application is open, right click or control click the app, go to options, and click Keep in Dock. Have you tried all three? If you are trying #1 and it’s not working, make sure you are selecting the application file. If none of these works, there are a few things to try: (1) First go to the Apple Menu and select Force Quit then select the Finder and Relaunch. (2) If that does not work, try restarting your computer. (3) If it’s still not working, as Mayer already suggested, try booting into safe mode (turn off the computer completely, then turn it on and then hold the shift key immediately until you see Apple Logo).

The SIM should not damage your new phone so long as it’s completely dry before you insert it. SIM cards are pretty robust, so it’s likely to be okay. As Aaron already said, photos are not stored on the SIM Card. If you had iCloud photos turned on, or were making any backups of your phone (either via iCloud or locally on a computer), then the photos should be backed up there.

It can also be a slightly bent case. The case can bend out of shape from pressure in pockets or being dropped. If that is the problem, it can often be fixed by being placed under weight (car battery, large water jug, etc.). You can also get a new frame. (Though I’d check on the battery first, as Aaron suggested.)

What does it do when you try to take a picture? Specifically, at what point does it stop? Does the lens autofocus (if you have an autofocus lens for it)? Do any of the viewfinder lights come on? And what shooting mode are you in? The flash thing is weird. It shouldn’t have stopped working just from hitting the brim of your hat. Have you tried turning flash off and making sure it’s not set to auto flash?

Bummer! I’ve had bits get stuck before. Do you have picture or details about how it is suck? Generally I start with wiggling it around, try to lightly bang the bit (not the drill) against something, then graduate to a pair of pliers. Sometimes it can take some working on it, and then it will free up. But if you’ve already spent some time with those methods, the last resort is probably drilling the bit out of there, though you’d have to be particularly careful, since the bit holder is probably about the same hardness as the bit itself.

What is happening when you try to unscrew them. Is the driver turning but the screws are not? And do you feel the driver getting a good grip in the hole? There are a few possibilities: (1) The screw is stripped, as you suggested (2) The screw is a security screen and requires a TR6 (basically, has a small hole in the center of the head to accommodate a bump out in the center of the screw) (3) The screw is stuck (I’ve had this issue before and had to work at it a bit to get it undone, which is always nerve-wracking as I don’t want to apply too much pressure to damage anything) (4) It’s the wrong size driver for the screw If the screws are stripped, there are a number of ways to try and remove them (with tools, pliers, etc.). iFitIt has a guide on removing stripped screws here: How to Remove a Stripped Screw

There are local shops you can find that will do modifications to gear. They’d need to look at your specific hood. There is a local shop here in Seattle that will take mail in order repairs: http://rainypass.com/modifications/ Although the reason most folks will just buy a new one, is that the cost of that alternation will likely be more than buying a new jacket. That is unfortunately the nature of a mass production society. But I agree with your sentiment about not wanting to get rid of something that works fine. Though you likely could find a new owner for it.

I don’t know if this will answer your question, but running external monitors can be a drain on computer resources. When I have two monitors plugged into my 2018 13” MacBook Pro, I notice that Lightroom tends to run slower. (Until I bought an eGPU to run the external monitors and take the burden off the integrated graphics card.) Is the monitor you are using a newer, higher resolution monitor? It’s possible it just can’t handle that resolution at that refresh rate. Although unless it is 4k or greater, I’d think even a 2008 MacBook Pro could handle it. You can try to reduce the burden by running in clamshell mode (MacBook Pro screen closed). I have also had issues with older Macs not always starting up when too many peripherals are connected. I don’t know why this happens, but you are not alone in experiencing that.
