I have the same problem just now with my 2009 ford escape. On the right side of the gear shift is a little square , it’s called the brake transmission shift interlock, carefully pry this cover off. push the screwdriver straight down and you will hear a click. You can now come out of park etc. But the minute I put the cover back, I am back to square 1 .

Galaxy tab 3 10.1. I removed the back but the frame, that hides the extension of usb port did not come off. I pried up the frame and could see a little square rectangle that needed to be pushed down on something in there, once I pushed that little rectangle down, the home button worked. Thanks. I couldn’t get it to work until I saw the pic above. Previously, I had just pulled out the old one carefully and I am so lucky that I didn’t ruin anything. You need to get behind the frame on the bottom and release the pop the little rectangle up to remove the old usb pot and then don’t forget to snap the little rectangle back on etc.
