I'm having the same issue with a customer's device. Very dim screen, but the brightness keys or the options in Windows are not there. I believe that it has to do with graphics driver, as it's showing with a warning message in device manager. However, in S mode you can't install drivers from the web and the "update driver" option fails every time either from Device Manager, or through Windows update (probably due to the low storage). Not even trying to reset Windows works. What a frustrating piece of machine! Any thoughts would be appreciated. (Btw, I tried reinstalling Windows 32-bit because it should be smaller so it doesn't get the drive too full, but I found out that HP doesn't offer drivers for 32-bit Windows, so the trackpad doesn't work, nor does screen brightness still... 🤦🏻‍♂️) I'm trying 64-bit and see how it goes...

Quickest/most effective way for me is still opening the SIM card tray and checking the model number there. SE 2nd gen 2020 would have one of these: A2275 (United States/Canada) A2296 (Global) A2298 (China) SE 3rd gen 2022 will have one of these: A2783 (International market) A2595 (USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, USVI) A2785 (China) A2782 (Japan) A2784 (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) You don't need to remember these, just grab whatever model you see on the SIM card tray and quickly Google it. :) *** ***

This happened to me. I opened the phone again, removed and repositioned/reinstalled the same button. Tinkered a little bit with the screws' tightness, and problem seemed to disappear. But I'm guessing some home button spares are just not the best anyway.
