Trying to be more mindful about the things I throw away, one device at a time.

Hi @donlee80811, do you mean that the lever by the driver's seat doesn't pop the trunk as it should? If this is the case, then the cable that connects the lever to the trunk latch has probably stretched. It may also have snapped/dislodged. This happens gradually over the years with cable latches, and you can usually fix it by adjusting the cable tension. In to diagnose the issue, have someone sit in the driver's seat and pull the lever repeatedly. Then go around to the trunk and listen for the mechanism inside: (1) If you hear it working, then the cable has stretched and needs to be re-tensioned. (2) If not, the cable has probably snapped or dislodged from the latch mechanism. Watch this YouTube guide on how to replace it here Give this a try and report back, we'll go from there
Thanks for including the safety pin trick to put the draw string back into the waistband. I had no idea how to approach that problem until now! The photos are great too.
Thank you for posting this guide. It'll become more valuable as these devices age--I anticipate having to replace the battery sometime in the next two years.
