I might be jumping the gun on this about worrying about it but.. I just replaced my iphone 3gs battery today several hours...

For my GLOD the solution was a firmware update. This was a lot of fun doing from safe mode. So i started up the update in safe mode which seemed straight forward but then it looked like it was frozen. I did a soft restart via power button and went back into safe mode. Then it picked up from where it left off with the update to the firmware and completed without an issue. My GLOD is now fixed. I hope others find this useful. Sorry its not written better feel free to use this content as a source for any write up's please do remember to give credit :)

One other thing to keep in mind is those wonderful pressure plates to press the cpu and gpu to the heat sink. It is not the norm but it might be that they are worn and not applying enough pressure to have good contact between the cpu and gpu and the heat sink. If you pull the ps3 apart again and there are area's of the heatsink that dont have thermal paste on it from the cpu or gpu then for one reason or another the pressure plates are not putting enough pressure on them to make good contact. One of the ps3's i have been working on i noticed there are 2 different sets of screws for the cpu and gpu so pay attention on those also.

After looking around this site there is also the possibility that there is damage to the logic board if the battery will not charge. Anyone replacing a battery on a iphone i would suggest to keep the old battery when replacing it until you know the new battery is fully functional. I would also suggest being careful when pulling the logic board out. If you have a hard time pulling it out look it over for screws or wiring that should be taken off first. Once its disconnected its pretty easy to remove.

Ok turned out the "new" battery was garbage. I put my old battery back in and it worked fine. So i got another replacement battery and the second one is working just fine.
