Key Turns and Makes Clicking Noise but Won’t Start

The key is turned in the ignition and the car makes a clicking sound like it is cranking up, but won’t fully start up.

Dead Battery

If you are encountering this issue, it is best to jump start your car using the power from another car’s battery.

Battery Connection Damaged or Loose

Over time, connection between the car and the battery can corrode and lose their ability to discharge power through the vehicle.

Key Turns and the Car is Silent

The key is turned in the ignition and the car remains silent. The vehicle shows no indication of starting up.

Battery Connection Corroded

Check the battery cable connections. Make sure they are clean and secure with minimal movement.

Car Starts then Immediately Dies

If your car can start normally then immediately dies.

Carburetor Malfunction

Check your carburetor and your choke to see whether the choke is first closing and then opening.

Car Won’t Start in Bad Weather Conditions

The ambient air temperature and air moisture content can greatly affect your vehicle.  If your car won’t start on an especially cold or rainy day, look into the following solutions.

Carburetor Malfunction

On an especially cold day, check your carburetor and your choke to see whether the choke is first closing and then opening. On a rainy day, check your carburetor cap for dampness. If there is moisture in the cap, it is the cause of your issue.
