Controller Will Not Turn On
After trying multiple times, I am unable to turn on my controller.
Low Batteries
Your batteries may be low and in need of replacement. If the batteries are low, the controller’s wireless signal will become too weak to connect the controller to the Amazon Fire TV. See “Batteries Placed Improperly” to ensure proper configuration of batteries in the controller's battery pack.
Batteries Placed Improperly
Your batteries may not be properly placed in the controller's battery pack. To ensure proper battery placement, make sure that both batteries have their positive leads facing the bottom of the controller.
Controller Inactivity
Your controller might have automatically entered sleep mode. Sleep mode activates after fifteen minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life. Press the "Start" button to end sleep mode.
Device Not Syncing with TV
I am unable to connect my controller to my Amazon Fire TV.
Controller Not in Range of TV
The controller may be out of range of the synced Amazon Fire TV. The controller's Bluetooth connection will automatically disconnect if the controller moves out of range. Simply move back within range to reconnect the controller to the TV.
Too Many Controllers Connected
There may be too many controllers already connected to your Amazon Fire Game Controller. The Amazon Fire TV can only connect to 4 controllers at a time. Using the TV's settings, clear all synced controllers, or disconnect another controller.
Another Device Interfering With the Controller’s Signal
Wireless devices nearby might be conflicting with the controller's signal, causing the controller to have problems connecting with the TV. Metallic objects between the TV and controller may also block the controller's signal. For best performance, keep a clear line of sight between the TV and controller.
TV is Not Compatible With Device
The first generation controller is only compatible with the first and second generation Amazon Fire TVs.
Sticky Button(s)
Whenever I press one of my buttons, the button becomes stuck and takes longer to pop back to the original position.
Dirt Buildup
Your controller's buttons might be sticking thanks to dirt or residue underneath. See the “Button Replacement Guide” to disassemble the controller and clean the buttons.
Malfunctioning Thumbstick(s)
My controller's thumbsticks are moving by themselves or refuse to work at all.
Dirt Buildup
Your thumbstick may not be rotating properly thanks to a buildup of residue or dirt. See the “Thumbstick Replacement Guide” to disassemble the controller and clean out the thumbstick.
Broken Thumbstick(s)
Your controller's thumbstick might have broken or bent during use. See the “Thumbstick Replacement Guide” and follow the steps to replace your thumbstick.
Button(s) and D-Pad Not Working
One or more buttons or the directional pad is unresponsive.
Broken Button(s) or D-Pad
Your controller might be suffering from a misaligned or broken button or D-pad, causing the button or D-pad to malfunction. See the “Button Replacement Guide” or the “D-pad Replacement Guide” and follow the steps required to replace the malfunctioning button(s) or D-pad.
Motherboard Needs to Be Replaced
The motherboard of the controller, which detects button presses, might be broken and in need of replacement. See the “Motherboard Replacement Guide” to replace the motherboard in the controller.

Game controller will go to Home but then starts scrolling fast on its on (rolling screen). I tried a new remote, same thing. Disconnected remotes. Waited then got Home. I was just playing games 2 days ago, then it started with problems. buttons don't do diddly. Help. Fire stick working.

I also have replaced with new batteries, disconnected and reconnected . Getting same rolling actions. Home screen, then rolling. Go through menu up top, settings, but won't go down to other settings. Ugh!

Hey Rachel I have also had the same problem. What type of controller are you using and is it just one or more that you are having a problem with?

my controller is also doing this. i have just one Amazon Fire Game Controller, purchased Dec 2014. I think my issues started around the same time as your old post, around 2018. I tried everything you did, new batteries, disconnected and reconnected. Same results. I gave up and just now thought IFIXIT might have a solution. Could the problem be caused by a software update from amazon back then?
