If your Dell Latitude 3440 touchpad does not respond to any input, follow this page for possible solutions.
Touchpad disabled
The touchpad may be accidentally turned off by the user, so follow the below instructions:
Settings→ Go toTouchpad→Turn On/Off- or
- Use the
Fn + F3shortcut
The Touchpad is covered in oils and debris
- The touchpad’s ability to register finger movements can be obscured by skin oil and dirt. Clean the touchpad surface with rubbing alcohol and a clean microfiber cloth by pouring small amounts of alcohol onto the cloth and wiping the surface of the touchpad. Do not pour any cleaning solution on the touchpad, as the liquids can leak into the chassis and damage the cables or motherboard.
Driver not properly installed
- Run diagnostics on SupportAssist and check for any hardware detection issues.
- If this does not solve the issue, go to Device Manager using another pointing device, right-click the touchpad, and select the “Update” driver.
Hardware or Cable Issue
- If none of the troubleshooting options above solved the issue, there may be a hardware issue.
