Garmin Drive 50 LM Turns Off Randomly

If your Garmin Drive 50 LM will power on and then turn off after a short period of time, use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.

• Press and hold the power button for at least 15-20 secs until the device shuts off completely.
• Wipe the screen with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners.
• Fully charge the device, if it’s at low battery the screen will start to flick.
• If issues still persist, there could be a problem with the connection of the screen and the motherboard.

there could be a problem with the devices ability to hold a charge or get a charge through the vehicles cable

• If available, try using another cars port to ensure that the problem is within the device and not the charging port of the car.
• Make sure the device is connected to the original vehicle power cable and the vehicle is on.
• Ensure the cables indicator light is on.
• If issues are still happening, there could be an issue with the devices or potentially the cars port.

a problem with the antenna could be causing the devices hardware to not work properly.

• Perform a soft reset on the device by powering it off, then powering it back on.
• Make sure the device is in an area with a clear view of the sky
• Ensure that the GPS Simulator on the device is turned off in settings
• if these have all be completed, the devices software could be in need of updating.

The power button could be stuck from applying too much pressure to it, making it more sensitive to turning the device on/off.

• Hold the button for 30 sec to try and unjam it.
• Use a small tool such as a tooth pick or tweezers to try and clean as much as you can underneath the button.
• Use a small amount of air to try and blow away any blockage that could be underneath the button.

If all other options haven't worked, the motherboard would most likely need replacing

• Replace the motherboard.
