Device won't turn on
No matter what you do, you can't get your Garmin Nuvi 680 to turn on.
Dead or Bad Battery
If your device won't turn on, you may need to charge the battery. If the battery will not charge, the battery may need to be replaced.
Bad display
If the screen is not powering up when the device is powered on, the screen may be broken and should be replaced. If sound comes from the device, it is likely the motherboard is working, and only the display needs to be replaced.
Before replacing the display, check that the ribbon cables connecting the display to the motherboard are connected securely.
Bad motherboard
If the device will not turn on, the motherboard may be defective and needs to be replaced.
Device is frozen
The GPS will turn on, but it is not responding to commands.
Device needs to be reset
If the device is not responding, it may need to be reset. The reset button is located under the antenna. While the device is off, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. The device is now reset and can be powered on.
Dead or bad battery
If the device is not responding, it may not have enough power to work properly. Charge the device completely and then reset the device. If charging does not work, the battery may need to be replaced.
Bad motherboard
If the device is still not responding, the motherboard may be defective and needs to be replaced.
The touchscreen display is not working
The screen turns on but is not responding to touch correctly.
Display requires calibration
If the touchscreen is incorrectly detecting where your finger touches the screen, the screen may need to be calibrated. The display can be re-calibrated by navigating to to menu, and then display. Push re-calibrate to re-calibrate the display.

Dead or bad battery
If the screen is not responding to touch, the device may not have enough power to function properly. Recharge the battery completely and try again. If the battery does not charge, it may need to be replaced.
Bad display
If the screen is still not responding to touch commands or displaying properly, the display may need to be replaced. If sound comes from the device, it is likely the motherboard is working, and only the display needs to be replaced.
Before replacing the display, check that the ribbon cables connecting the display to the motherboard are connected securely.
No sound playing
The device appears to be working, but there is no sound.
Volume is muted
Make sure the volume is not turned down or off.
No voice selected
If there is no sound, voice guidance may be disabled. The voice can be re-enabled in the voice menu by selecting a voice.
Dead or bad battery
If you can not get any sound, the device may not have enough power to use the speaker, charge the battery. If the battery does not charge, it may need to be replaced.
Broken speaker
If there still is no sound, the speaker may be broken and needs to be replaced.
No satellite signal
The device appears to be functioning, but it cannot get a signal.
Signal interference
If you cannot get a signal, you may need to go outside. The Gdevice is designed for outdoor use and may not receive a signal inside buildings. The device may take several minutes to fully connect under normal conditions.
Dead or bad battery
If you cannot get a signal, the device may not have enough power to function properly. Charge the battery completely and try again. If the battery does not charge, it may need to be replaced.
Out of date software
Your device may be unable to connect to satellites because the software is outdated. Connect the device to a computer and update the software.

Broken antenna
If you still cannot get a signal, the antenna may be broken and needs to be replaced.

Touch screen not working? Follow trouble shooting instructions in your Garmin Manual or recalibrate screen as follows:-
1. Press and hold power button for 1 minute until Calibration screen appears.
2. Follow instructions by pressing the Dots as they appear at different areas of the screen until calibration is complete.
3. Reboot GPS & test operation.
