Keyboard Does Not Register Inputs
When typing on the keyboard text is not displayed and keystrokes are not registered
Faulty Keyboard or Lose Internal Connection
If your keyboard is not working you will need to open up the laptop. Once it is open you may see a loose connection between the keyboard and motherboard. If not, the keyboard will need to be replaced, follow this (Placeholder).
Laptop is Overheating
When you use or turn on the laptop the device begins to heat up quickly and cannot regulate heat.
Dust build up in vents
If there is an extreme amount of dust build up in your laptop there are multiple signs that can lead to overheating. These signs include: Loud fans, fans running faster than usual, grinding or rattling noise, or lastly visible dust coming through your laptop vents. To fix this, turn off your laptop, unscrew your backplate of the bottom of your laptop with a screwdriver, and use a can of compress air on your fans and where ever seems needed, then wipe down the area with a microfiber cloth and if needed get in the tight spots with a cotton swob that is surrounded by the microfiber cloth, then reattach the backplate with the screws from before
CPU’s thermal paste has worn off
To check on your thermal pace you will need to access it through dissembling your laptop, to tell if your thermal paste is still in proper condition, it should not be: flakey, stiff, or hard. Although you will need to replace your thermal paste if you do decide to take apart your computer and CPU. To replace your thermal paste turn off your laptop, open and unscrew you back panel, identify the cpu, unscrew and remove the heat sink, release the CPU lock, clean off the old thermal paste using a lint-free cloth and some isopropyl alcohol, then apply new thermal paste. Reposition the CPU, secure the CPU and reattach the heatsink, then secure and back panel and restart your laptop or device.
Broken heat sink
If you have a broken heat sink your laptop may: make loud or abnormal noises, begin to run slower or crash often, start displaying blue screens or error messages or start shutting down and restarting itself. To fix your heat sink turn off your laptop, open the back panel by unscrewing it, identify the heat sink, unscrew and release the heat sink, clean off the thermal paste by using a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol, apply new thermal paste, attack new heatsink for your laptop, then screw and secure the new heatsink, and reattach the backplate of the laptop.
Malfunctioning cooling fan
To tell if your cooling fan isn’t working you may experience multiple symptoms, but also be aware that the Hp Pavilion has two fans. The laptop may be silent or quieter than usual yet still producing heat more than normal. To have full confidence in knowing your cooling fans are failing, if the laptop is overheating and starting to slow down, it is a clear indication that your fans are malfunctioning. To fix your fans, turn off your laptop, detach the back plate by unscrewing it, find and identify your cooling fans, unscrew and detach your fans from the motherboard by detaching their connectors, then replace them and install your new cooling fans by screwing them in place and reconnecting the connectors to the motherboard, screw in the backplate, and restart your laptop.
Computer Won't Connect to Wi-Fi
Computer won’t connect or stay connected to Wi-Fi
Too many devices connected
If there are too many devices connected to your Wi-Fi it could slow down your connection or kick you off of the network. Disconnecting devices may allow you to connect or speed up your connection.
Out of range
If you are too far away from your router it may be causing connectivity problems. Moving closer to your router or moving the antennae could solve this problem.
Outdated or corrupted drivers
Your drivers could be outdated or corrupted and need to be reinstalled. Check HP’s website for driver installation instructions.
Router won't connect to other devices
If you're router isn't connecting to other devices then you may need to reset it or contact your internet service provider.
Faulty Wi-Fi card
If none of the above solutions solve the problem then your Wi-Fi card could be dead or defective. You can find a guide to replacing your Wi-Fi card here.
Optical Drive is Not Reading Any Discs
The disc is not playing on the laptop
The Disc or the Drive
If the disc is not playing, open up the drive and test out if it’s the disc causing problems or the drive not working. Try cleaning the disc, switching multiple discs out etc. If nothing works it might be the optical drive. If believed to be the drive see guide to fix.
