Audio Distortion

Also known as the 'Dead of Silence' problem, this causes the radio to output nothing or a slight buzzing similar to white noise rather than what you want.

Radio is out of range

Are you using your radio in a place you have never used it before, or are you listening in an area where you typically have no issues? If you are trying to listen to your radio somewhere for the first time there is always the chance that your current position is outside of the range of the nearest radio tower.

Go through this list to identify an out of range issue:

  1. "All of my channels produce white noise and I sometimes hear faint chitter chatter in the white noise! Paranormal activity!" Either your radio has made a connection with the spiritual world or you are experiencing an out of range issue.
  2. "Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass, and.... my radio connection is down again..." Your radio seems to magically work in some areas, but not in others? You are likely experiencing an out of range issue.

Solution

  1. Make sure you are not in a below-ground environment (such as a basement level of a building)
  2. Try listening to your radio in an area where it has worked well before. If this works, there was a poor signal where you last tried to use it and there are no issues with your radio.
  3. If listening issues persist please consider other possible issues below.

Signal or Electrical interference

Radio signals can be interrupted by other signals in the air or an electrical disturbance near your radio. A signal interference can occur when there is a high density of signals in your area. As an example, wi-fi routers, microwaves and other two-way radio signals can cause interference with your radio signal.

Go through this list to identify a Signal or Electrical interference issue:

  1. You live in an area with a large density of wireless signals in your area (e.g. Wi-fi signals, two-way radios, Bluetooth, microwaves, etc)
  2. There are electrical wires near your device
  3. The radio is close to other electrical devices

Solution

  1. Make sure that your radio is away from any wires or large electrical components. Most electrical components give off an electromagnetic signal that can cause interference with your radio signal. To avoid this issue simply make sure to leave some space between the radio and other electrical equipment.
  2. Your radio signal may also be experiencing a signal interference. A signal interference can occur when there is a high density of signals in your area. As an example, wi-fi routers, microwaves and other two-way radio signals can cause interference with your radio signal. Take a stroll outside, or try to clear away from the interfering signals to see if your radio is working better.
  3. If listening issues persist please consider other possible issues below.

Headset or Speaker malfunction

If you are experiencing audio issues, these may be related to a Headset or Speaker malfunction.try using a different listening device to confirm that the issue does not involve the speakers or headset. To make sure the audio issue is not related to your speaker or headset:

Go through this list to identify an Headset or Speaker malfunction issue:

  1. When you plug-in your buddy's headphones or speakers instead of your own and the audio streams perfectly as it should. You may be experiencing jealousy, and a Headset or Speaker malfunction

Solution

  1. Unplug your current headset or speaker from the audio jack port
  2. Plug a different headset or speaker to the audio jack port and play the radio as normal
  3. If you hear the radio audio through the new headset or speaker you have confirmed a malfunction with your previous hearing device. Otherwise, the issue might be related with a hardware component on the radio.
  4. If listening issues persist please consider other possible issues below.

Bad Antenna

If you find that you are having poor reception and you have identified that your issue is not related to signal interference, poor signal in your area (or basement level, etc.) then you may be having issues with your antenna.

This device utilizes a clever design that converts your headphones (or anything connected to your auxiliary port) into the radio's antenna.

Go through this list to identify an Bad Antenna issue:

  1. "When I bend or move my headphones I can hear interference or white noise"
  2. "My headphones work well on other devices but my audio seems to have some interference"

Solution

  1. Make sure that your headphones work well on other devices to make sure it is not the one causing the issues
  2. Try a different pair of headphones to test radio reception on different headphones or auxiliary cords.
  3. There may be issues with the auxiliary port of the device (make sure it is free of debris)
  4. If listening issues persist please consider other possible issues below.

Audio jack malfunction

If you have confirmed that the issues above are not responsible for your audio issues, there might be a chance it is being caused by a failure related to your audio jack.

Go through this list to identify an Audio jack malfunction issue:

  1. This radio is often placed in my pocket or bag. Like many mobile devices, debris may fall into the audio jack and interrupt the electrical connection.
  2. Your radio has been dropped and you believe it may have caused internal damage

Solution

  1. Gently clean the audio jack with clean tweezers.
  2. Check to see if any internal parts have been damaged. This may require more serious repairs.

Power Issues

The device either will not turn on or will not stay on for the normal period supported by the battery.

Power button gets stuck

  • As with many mobile devices, debris may fall into the crevices between the buttons and interrupt the connection. If this is the case, make sure to gently clean the area around the button with clean tweezers.

Faulty Charge Cord

  • A faulty charge cord can cause issues with battery life. Check for fraying, pinching, or other signs of wear in the cable. This will commonly occur near the ends of the cable wear twisting can occur. If these signs are visible, then it may be worth replacing the cable.

Charge port will not take in charge

  • Check the charge port of the device for dust or other debris that accumulates in mobile device ports over time. If you see any, remove with clean tweezers but do so carefully so as to preserve the connection pins.
  • Check the connection pins in the charge port of the device for warping due to heat, and bent or missing pins. If so, it is likely that you need to replace the connection pins.

Battery will not maintain charge

  • A lithium battery's capability to hold a charge diminishes over time and common use. This is the most likely cause of why the device is not holding a charge. Replacing the battery is recommended. However if the device is new, continue on.
  • Dropping the device or other sudden jars can dislodge the connection of the battery and the rest of the device. Opening the back and checking the connection is recommended.
  • If the device has never experienced a level of G force higher than recommended by the manufacturer and is relatively new, then it is likely that it is just a bad battery. The device will likely be in warranty at that point. Contacting the manufacturer for a replacement battery during the warranty period is recommended.

Try to connect my Insignia wireless headphones to my television. When I plug the 3.5 mm into the headphone Jack on the tv I get sound in my headphones but it silences the volume on the tv. If I connect the RCA cable directly to the tv ports, I get no sound. I believe they are connected accurately. Can you help?

I cannot get my headphones to play at all. It's seems self explainatory. Blue lights indicated paired. Red end is in the red, white in the white, and I plug the 3.5 in tablet- nothing, Checked volume on device fine, Tried turning up headphones, they will beep but I don't get a noise. Same results on phone as well

Headphones connected to TV. Full charge is now only lasting 45 minutes. Fixable?, is it a battery problem? Have not dropped, careful with set.
