The Kodak EasyShare Z740 is a 5.0 Megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom, 5x digital zoom, and a 1.8 inch LCD screen

Note: This troubleshooting page covers issues associated with the EasyShare Z740 model by Kodak. Any other models are covered in separate troubleshooting pages.

Camera does not turn on after pushing the power button.

If the camera is off and will not turn on when pushing the power button, there may be an easy solution to the problem. While the device is off, press and hold the power button until the camera turns on.

If you notice the batteries have collected some dirt, consider taking out the batteries and placing them back in under the correct pole configuration for each battery. If the batteries are dirty, simply clean them using rubbing alcohol.

Connect the camera to a Kodak 3-volt AC adapter (sold separately), then try again. If this does not charge the battery you may need to replace them by following the manual or instructions on the camera. Make sure they are new and charged batteries.

It's possible that dropping the camera or damaging can ruin the logic board. The logic board may not be working properly anymore and must be replaced, or the camera might have to be sent to Kodak for repair. In case you don't want to risk replacing an important part like the logic board, consider sending the camera to Kodak because installing the logic board incorrectly can ruin the camera.

Camera does not turn off after pressing power button.

Remove the batteries from the battery compartment and insert them back in. Use caution and make sure the camera is in standby mode so nothing is damaged on the logic board.

Camera turns off as soon as it is turned on.

Remove the batteries from the battery compartment and insert them back in the correct loading pole configuration. Confirm the batteries are charged.

The camera may overheat after prolonged use. Turn off the camera and let it stand for 5 minutes before turning it back on.

It's possible that dropping or damaging the camera ruin the logic board. Camera lens does not open or close.

Charge the battery and place it in the camera correctly.

Obstructions may prevent the lens from opening or closing properly. A Q-tip is a good tool to remove any dirt from the edge of the lens.

The lens might need replacement if it is unrepairable. If this is the case, consider replacing the lens of the camera.

Camera does not flash when needed or the flash unit does not open .

Remove the batteries from the battery compartment and reinsert them using this guide.

Open the flash unit and check the flash settings to be sure the correct option is being used, following this guide.

You may need to install an entirely new flash unit, following these instructions

It's possible that capacitor may be damaged or faulty after several uses of the camera. Consider replacing the guide in the camera.

LCD screen is damaged/not working properly.

Once the LCD screen cracked or damaged severely, the only solution is to replace the screen. If the LCD screen is cracked on the camera, you'll need to replace it by following this guide.

Remove the lens cap. If that doesn't work push the LCD button to change the display.

Memory card is not recognized or camera freezes with card.

Make sure the card is the uncorrupted and is free of dirt and doesn't look broken.

Make sure the right card is in the camera.

Use another memory card.

maybe the Pins are bent? someone may have slid the memory card into hard. Another thought comes to mind maybe the lock on the sd card in lock mode not unlock which it should be .

lock mode is if u want to save stuff on the card.

Just my humble opinion on the matter.
