Tablet Will Not Charge
The tablet fails to indicate that it is plugged in and charging.
Charger Not Connected
It is possible that you do not have the charger connected all the way to the tablet or the wall which will result in the device not receiving the electric current. Make sure your charger is completely plugged in on both ends and has a good connection.
Bad Power Adapter
If your cord is plugged in completely to the tablet and wall, your power adapter could be dead. Try using a friends power adapter that does work on your tablet to see if it charges it. If the other charger works, you most likely need to purchase a new power adapter.
Using a Phone Charger
You can use a compatible phone charger to charge the device. However, it only supplies 1 amp of power which, compared to 2 amps of power from the device’s charger, will cause the tablet to charge much slower due to less power being delivered.
Bad IO Board
If tablet is still not charging, the battery charging port may have broken off of the electric board inside the tablet. If that is the case, you will need to replace your IO Board.
See the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 IO Board Replacement guide to learn how to fix it.
Dead Battery
Another possible problem is that your battery is dead, in which case you will need to buy a new one and replace it.
See the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 Battery Replacement guide to learn how to fix it.
Speakers Will Not Play
Audio playing but the speakers are producing little to no sound.
Volume Off
The volume may be turned down low or completely off. Check on the side of the tablet that the volume is turned up loud enough to where you are able to hear it.
Connected To Another Audio Device
If the tablet is connected to another audio playing device such as headphones or speakers it will not play sound out of the built in speakers. Check to make sure that it is not connected to any other device.
Blown-Out/Damaged Speakers
If the speakers are producing some noise but it is very faint and strange sounding there is a chance that the speakers have been blown out; they will need to be replaced. If the speakers are producing no sound at all a wire may have become disconnected or there maybe some water damage; in either case they will need to be replaced.
See the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 Speakers Replacement guide to learn how to fix them.
HDMI Cable Not Connecting
The tablet will not connect through the HDMI cable to another device.
Cable Not Connected
It is possible that you do not have the HDMI cable connected all the way to the tablet or the device which will result in the components not transmitting electric current. Make sure your charger is completely plugged in on both ends and has a good connection.
Incorrect Input
The device that you plugged the tablet into may be on the wrong input for the HDMI connection. Check that it is set to the correct input to display what is on your tablet.
Bad Cable
If your cable has cuts or other connection issues, you may have a bad cable with a poor connection. Try it again with a different HDMI cable. If that works, then you just need to purchase a new HDMI cable.
Broken Port
If you have tried using multiple cables and the HDMI still doesn't connect, the HDMI port is probably broken. To replace the port, you need to replace the IO board.
See the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 IO Board Replacement guide to learn how to fix it.
Headphone Jack Not Working
Audio does not play through headphones.
Bad Headphones
Make sure your headphones are working properly by testing them with another device such as a music player that you know for sure works. If they do not work when plugged into that device then they are probably broken and you will need to replace them.
Pending Software Updates
Try restarting the device and make sure there are no pending software updates.
Damaged Audio Jack
It is possible that your audio jack was damaged and needs to be replaced.
See the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 Digital Board Replacement guide to learn how to fix it.
WiFi Not Connecting
The IdeaTab will not connect to a wireless network.
WiFi Turned Off
Check to make sure your WIFI is turned on by going to settings and selecting ‘On’ for WiFi.
Problem With Router
There may be a problem with your router; try resetting your router by following these steps:
- Unplug the power cord
- Leave unplugged for around 20 seconds before plugging it back in
- Wait a few minutes for your tablet to find your WiFi again
- Reconnect your tablet to the WiFi
- Re-enter your passcode if your WIFI is protected
Damaged Antenna
If your tablet is still not connecting, you may need to replace the WIFI/GPS antenna in the IdeaTab.
