If your Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e Gen 6 continuously restarts on its own, follow this troubleshooting guide.
Boot Drive is Undetected
Sometimes an external storage drive may detach when the device is handled without care. The boot drive is the internal drive that loads the device’s operating system upon startup. To make sure the boot drive is working properly, the boot drive needs to be checked.
To check if the boot drive is detected, restart the system and press F12 repeatedly when the Lenovo logo appears. In the boot menu, check to see if the storage device is listed. If the storage device is not listed, then the hard drive has likely malfunctioned and may need to be replaced.
Faulty Motherboard
Continuous restarting could be caused by a faulty or damaged motherboard. A faulty motherboard will prevent the device from properly communicating with other components during the boot process, causing it to repeatedly restart. Check to see if the motherboard needs to be replaced.
Faulty CMOS Battery
Continuous restarting could be caused by a faulty CMOS battery. A faulty CMOS battery will prevent the device from saving the BIOS settings after shutdown. Resetting the CMOS battery may solve the issue.
Make sure your Lenovo ThinkPad is completely powered off and disconnected from power. Open the back of the Lenovo ThinkPad and remove the internal battery. Then, unplug the CMOS. Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to clear the CMOS. Plug the CMOS back in, then reattach the battery. After putting the back plate on, plug the Lenovo ThinkPad into the AC adapter to ensure it has a charge. Power on the device. If the issue persists, you may need to replace the CMOS battery.
Operating System has been Changed
If the operating system has been changed, an error may have occurred during the process that has caused the device to continuously restart on its own. The default operating system needs to be reinstalled.
To enter the BIOS menu, restart the system and repeatedly press F1 when the Lenovo logo appears. When in the BIOS menu, press F9 to restore the device settings to system default. Then press F10 to save your changes and reboot the system.
