Nonexistent Audio or Buzzing
Audio does not play through the on-board speakers or there is a consistent buzzing sound when audio is playing.
Audio Drivers are Out of Date
Go to this page on your laptop. Find “AUDIO – Realtek High Definition Audio” and select download. After download, go to “Device Manager” from the Control Panel app in settings. Select “Sound, video and game controllers” then right click on your device’s speakers. Select “Update driver” and then select your preferred method of finding your newly downloaded drivers. Follow the instructions, remembering to Apply changes when needed, then restart your computer.
Speakers are Disabled
Right click on the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select “Open Sound Settings” Choose “Playback Devices” in Taskbar. Scroll down and select “Sound Control Panel” under “Related Settings.” Right click empty space in sound window and make sure “Show Disabled Devices“ and “Show Disconnected Devices” are checked. Right click on your audio device and choose “Disable.” Right click again and choose “Enable.” Click “Apply” then “OK.”
Incorrect Audio Output Settings
Check in-game volumes and if possible, check their audio outputs. If needed, reinstall the game.
Incorrect Windows Audio Service Settings
Press the Windows Key + R and enter services.msc in the “Open” prompt. After the Services window opens, find “Windows Audio” and double click to open its properties. Ensure that “Automatic” is selected for “Startup type.” Remember to select “Apply” then “OK” to save changes. If it’s already running (service status), go back and right click on the “Windows Audio” service and choose “Restart.”
Undetectable Issue
Go to Settings and click on “Update & Security,” then “Troubleshoot.” Find the “Playing Audio” option under “Get Up and Running” and select “Run the Troubleshooter.” Follow the pop-up instructions; remember to select the on-board speakers. After troubleshooting, restart your computer.
Brightness Bug
Screen uncontrollably dims to low brightness without prompting.
Graphics Card Power Save Settings are not Up to Date
Right click on desktop and click on the Intel Graphics Settings to get to the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel. Go to “Power.” Under “Display Power Saving Technology,” toggle to select “Disable.” Click the “Apply” button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. You should get a pop-up that asks you to confirm your changes. Click “Yes” to confirm your changes.
Incorrect Computer Power Settings
In the windows search bar in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen, search for “Edit Power Plan.” In the Plan Settings, select “Change Advanced Power Settings.” This will show a pop up with your Power Options. Expand the “Display” menu, then expand the submenu “Enable adaptive Brightness.” Make sure that both “On Battery” and “Plugged In” are off. Click “Apply” and then “OK” to save your changes.
Display Flickering or Showing Black Bars
Computer screen flickers on and off, displays black bars, or is completely black.
Graphics Drivers are not Up to Date
Go to this page and download the Intel(R) HD Graphics Driver. Right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as Administrator.” Click “Yes” on the pop-up window. Follow the prompts to install the driver.
Computer is Trying to Project to a Different Screen
If your primary screen is blank, the laptop is trying to display its contents on another screen. Use the Windows Key + P to tell the computer that you want to change your projection settings. While your display may not change, your computer has brought up a list of its projection options. Click the up or down arrow once to select a different display mode and hit Enter on your keyboard. Your desktop should appear. To ensure that your settings are correct, use the Windows Key + P to show your display settings and select “PC Screen Only.”
Keyboard Malfunctioning or Unrecognizable
Some or all of the keys on the keyboard are sticky, inconsistent, or are not working at all.
Laptop Keyboard is not Installed
Go to the bottom left of the task bar and click on “Type here to search.” Using an external or digital keyboard, type “Device Manager” in the search bar. A window will pop up titled “Device Manager.” Scroll down to the label “Keyboards” and click on it. A drop down will show up with the keyboard installed. Right click on the “Razor Blade Stealth,” then select “Uninstall Device.” Reboot the computer. Once the computer has restarted, the driver should have reinstalled on its own.
Keyboard Driver is not Up to Date
Go to the bottom left of the task bar and click on “Type here to search.” Then type “Device Manager” in the search bar. A window will pop up titled “Device Manager.” Scroll down to the label “Keyboards” and click on it. A drop down will show up with the keyboard installed. Right click on the “Razor Blade Stealth”, then select “Update Driver”. A window will pop up, then click “Search automatically for updated driver software”. Follow the installation prompts. Reboot the computer.
Thunderbolt 3 Malfunctioning
The computer’s Thunderbolt 3 port does not recognize devices, randomly disconnects from power, or fails .
Thunderbolt 3 Drivers are Out of Date
Go to this page and download the Thunderbolt Driver. Right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as Administrator.” Click “Yes” on the pop-up window. Select “Repair” in the pop-up window and follow the prompts to install the driver.
