Running Too Many Applications
The computer may be running too many applications at one time that can increase memory usage. This can lead to freezing, slow performance, and complete shutting off.
- Ensure that applications and programs are terminated.
- Disable extensions
- Open the task manager by pressing Shift+Esc
- You may need to clear up some of the storage in the Samsung Chromebook to see if that improves it.
- Go to storage, then device, then storage management, then choose and delete whatever big files you are not utilizing.
- System Updates may also cause performance issues that make the system to freeze or stop.
- Try updating the system to the most current firmware and software to ensure that the system is up to date.
Failed Battery
The battery being damaged or in poor health may cause issues with the system, causing freezing.
- Check by pressing CONTROL+ALT+T to enter the CROSH command shell.
- Then type the command battery test 0 into the CROSH command shell.
- It will display information pertaining to the battery. There you would see battery health.
- Damaged battery cells can cause major system issues. If the laptop had been dropped or damaged, it may need a battery replacement.

Failed Motherboard
If the battery is in good condition, it is possible that the RAM drive or storage. Since both components are soldered within the motherboard, the motherboard will need to be replaced. Follow this guide for instructions on replacing the motherboard.
