Poor/no suction
Roomba is having difficulty thoroughly cleaning some or all areas and leaving debris behind; it is evident there is poor or no suction.
Clogged Bin or Filter
When having issues with poor suction, it is most likely that there is some buildup in the bin or filter of the Roomba. To clean these, press the button on top of the Roomba and pull the bin out. Empty out the bin, clean the filter or replace it with a new filter. Once you are done, connect the bin back into the Roomba.
Insufficient Motor
Although less likely, if issues are occurring with poor suction it is possible that the motor of the Roomba is no longer working, or not working properly. Open the Roomba and take out the current motor. Place the new/working motor into the Roomba.
Brush not spinning
Vacuum brushes seem to be stuck, not rotating inside the Roomba.
Debris Caught in Brush
If the brushes on the Roomba are not spinning, there may be debris caught in the brushes of the Roomba. This debris is most likely, but not limited to: hair, string, elastics, or wires. To clean the brushes of the Roomba: Open the bottom brush area of the Roomba, pop the brushes out of the pocket, and clean. Place brushes back into the pocket and close. To prevent this, ensure there are no large objects, or stringy items on the floor when using the Roomba because these will continue to get stuck.
Brush Rotary System Connection
When it is apparent that the brushes of the Roomba are not spinning, and the option above (cleaning out brushes) has not helped, there may be issues with the connection of the rotary system of the brushes. These issues will most likely be resolved by simply cleaning the pocket of the rotary system. To do this, take the brushes out of the pocket, clean the area of rotary inside the brush pocket (any large debris or dust), and then put the brushes back into place.
Failure to Charge
Roomba does not properly charge and dies after a short period of time.
Declining Battery Health
If your Roomba is not charging as well as it used to, there is a good chance that the battery is reaching the end of its life cycle. The average lifespan for a battery in your Roomba is between 2 and 4 years of use. After this point, you might notice a shorter running period and you should think about getting it replaced. To remove the battery and replace it with a new one, you first want to remove the bottom cover of your Roomba. Then remove the yellow battery on the inside by pulling the tabs on both sides of it. Then replace the new battery and the cover of your Roomba.
Battery clogged with debris
If your battery seems to be malfunctioning, it could be possible that the battery has become blocked by dust or debris. To clean your Roomba battery, remove it from your Roomba and wipe it gently with a microfiber cloth. Then you will want to also wipe down the charging contacts of your Roomba. Also using a microfiber cloth, gently wipe the charging port.
Faulty Docking Station
Roomba is having difficulty connecting to the docking station.
Damaged Power Cord
Check to make sure the power cord is plugged into the docking station. Check for damages to the power cord. If the cord is damaged this is why the docking station isn’t functioning properly.
Clogged with debris
Try to clean out the charging port of the Roomba as well as the port of the home base. To do this, use a foam sponge, for example, a Magic Eraser. Do NOT use water. Once both ports are clean, try to charge your Roomba and determine if that has fixed the problem. Keep up with cleaning and maintenance once a week.
Won’t connect to wifi
Roomba has trouble connecting to the wifi network and repeatedly disconnects.
Disabled Network
Make sure the wifi network is on and within range. Perform any network updates necessary and restart the router. Place home base close to the router. After this, your Roomba should properly connect to the network.
Poor Router Range
Ensure the device is on and within range of the network. Check to see if the device is fully charged and the home base is plugged in. Press and hold the “Home”, “Spot Clean”, and “Clean” buttons simultaneously to factory reset your Roomba. Once the device turns back on, try to connect it to the wifi network. If it does not, the internal wifi receiver is damaged and should be replaced.
