Nexus 7: Place to sell/donate old part for refurbishing?

Does anyone know where you can sell/send failed parts to be refurbished? For example, I have a failed Nexus 7 motherboard that might be repairable by the right micro-miniature repair operation. Perhaps someone knows where you can send parts off to get a second life. This would need to be somewhere trusted to ensure the data off a failed part is properly wiped. I'm curious if anyone has any leads or if iFixit may be looking at that kind of service?

Nexus 7: N7: Won't charging even though charging icon shows it is charging!

I use it since 2012 with no issue. However starting few months ago, the battery is draining while it is being charged. I use the original charger and usb cable, swapping it with my Nexus 4 charger and cable gets the same result. Now the only way to charge it is by opening the case, disconnect the battery cable and charge directly the 2 cells battery as described here.

Asus repair center told me that the motherboard needs to be replaced and will cost me $160. So instead I just bought the replacement motherboard from ebay that costed me $18 and replace it myself using this guideline.

Unfortunately the new motherboard doesn't solve the problem, it is still not charging. Now my question, which other replacement part that likely will solve this problem: motherboard flex cable, audio and usb port charger flex cable or the battery?

Appreciate for any advice, thanks..

| Problem solved. Replaced the usb port charger flex cable. Cost $14.

| Follow this Guide

In recent weeks I've noticed the leftsided display cable became "visible". I unfortunately dropped it today but didn't think much of it. Later on it would turn on but the touchscreen is completely unresponsive.

Can I fix this myself? Will I need new parts or this just a loose cable? I'm willing to try this myself.

Nexus 7: Is Chunghwa an OEM for the Nexus 7 display?

I purchased an "OEM" replacement digitizer+LCD display on ebay and received one manufactured by Chunghwa instead of HYDIS. The seller says that Chunghwa is the "other" OEM for this part but I don't know whether that's accurate. The display seems to work with my disassembled Nexus 7 but I haven't tried to mount it in the original bezel yet.

Nexus 7: I got two broken Nexus7, can I fix one with the other?

Hello there,

I got two Nexus7. One has the LCD screen that doesn't display anything (but it emits sound and seems to be responsive).

The second one has a crack on the glass, and the touchscreen doesn't respond when I touch it (it was perfectly working before I made the crack). Its display still works beside the touch interface.

Can I use the glass of the first one with the LCD screen of the second one? Are they glued/fused together or is it possible to separate them and do such a replacement? And most importantly, do I have any chance to fix the broken touch input by only changing the cracked glass? :)

Thank you,

Ben

EDIT: I tried to open both devices. The display and the glass are welded together and there is no way to separate them without breaking something. BUT, i've been very lucky because I used the display-to-MB connector from the device with the cracked glass in the other one, and it worked again perfectly!

Thanks iFixit for the nice guides, helped me a lot.
