Can you upgrade MacBookPro Retina Nvidia Geforce 650m Graphics Card?

Would it be possible to upgrade the macbook pro 15in retina displays graphics card from the Nvidia Geforce 650m to something better such as the Nvidia GTX 670? I know the difficulty of doing almost anything to this new line is high but is it possible? would it work? and would you be able to do a toturial or explaination as to how to reach and switch the card?

I believe that it may just be impossible. The graphics card on Apple's portable lineup is an integrated chipset. Unlike the desktop macs, which have a PCIe slot, you would have to have equipment to desolder the chip from the board. There are also may firmware difference and heat constraints you would have to worry about. The best you are going to get on there is the graphics card it came with. I wish there was a way to upgrade too, but with everything integrated in the mac it is impossible. I guess we will all have to wait to see what graphics chip Apple uses in the next gen.

Hope this Helps

ASSUMING you can't without exhausting the possibility is lame; you are no more certain than the questioner, you're just biased differently than he is.

Personally, I'm interested in knowing if I could put the 750m

Furthermore, if/when you replace a MBP GPU that failed due to the $@$*!& new compound used in lieu of lead solder immediately improves the longevity of it. Its not like the GPUs of everything BEFORE 2007 failed.

I'd just look for the model with the highest performance, supported kext and compatible pinout/stencil... if that doesn't work, I'd work backwards.
