I've been struggling with F20 on and off for a year... Cleaned the drain outlet, cleaned the inlet screens and fished a stray sock out from under the seal by the door. Finally noticed a green package of papers inside the bottom access panel on the side of the washer with a description if all the trouble codes and a wonderful diagnostic test.... Found out my washer was getting plenty of cold water and NO hot water at all on 4 of the 5 times I ran the diagnostic. Swapped out the water inlet valve (found step by step video instructions and how to test the old part for continuity on RepairClinic.com- they even had diagrams and schematics). So much better to be positive I fixed the real problem then guessing and randomly replacing parts!

The F20 error code on a washing machine usually indicates a water inlet problem, meaning the washer is not detecting enough water during the cycle. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check the Water Supply

  • Ensure both the hot and cold water valves are fully open.
  • Verify the water supply to your home is functioning properly.

2. Inspect the Inlet Hoses

  • Check the hoses for any kinks, blockages, or leaks.
  • Remove the hoses from the back of the washer and clean the screens inside the inlet valves. Dirt or debris can clog them and restrict water flow.

3. Examine the Water Pressure

  • Low water pressure can cause the F20 error. The minimum pressure required is usually 20 PSI. If your water pressure is low, consult a plumber.

4. Test the Water Inlet Valve

  • If the water supply and hoses are fine, the water inlet valve may be defective. Use a multimeter to check for continuity. If it’s faulty, it will need to be replaced.

5. Inspect the Flowmeter

  • The flowmeter detects the amount of water entering the washer. If it’s malfunctioning, the machine may not register the water flow, triggering the error.

6. Reset the Washer

  • Disconnect the washer from the power supply for about 5 minutes, then plug it back in. Sometimes a reset clears the error.

7. Check for Other Issues

  • Ensure the washer door is closed and latched properly.
  • Verify there are no electrical issues with the washer.

When to Call a Professional

If you’ve gone through all these steps and the F20 error persists, it’s best to contact a technician. The issue may involve more complex components like the control board.

By addressing these potential causes, you should be able to resolve the F20 error and get your washer back in working order. Let us know how it goes!
