Flashing LED Fault Indicator

Hi,

I have a faulty 23" Apple Cinema HD Display that powers up but no video is shown. However, led power light flashes 3 times. Does the 3 flashes of the power LED indicate the nature of the fault as I can repair if I know what was wrong.

So I've found a solution for this issue with the Short / Long / Short blinking sequence (aka "Make sure you are using the correct power adapter with the display").

I've found the solution on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH5xgo1u3...

Basically, all you have to do is isolate the middle pins of the symmetric proprietary connector on the power adapter, using scotch tape. I just did it, it worked. Just make sure the pieces of scotch tape are really narrow and cover both middle pins and only these.

Thanks. Really helpful.

I could not believe when I saw my Apple monitor display coming alive again, whoever shared the tip of covering the middle connectors is a genius, I am glad I did google first. In addition, this is saving me a trip to the Apple store.

leematheruk, check first on what Apple suggest, watch for the blinking sequence :"short, short, short-->The display is detecting wrong video format or an unsupported resolution.

Verify that your equipment is compatible and restart the computer. If the issue continues, reset the PRAM.

short, long, short -->Make sure you are using the correct power adapter with the display. This alert will only appear on displays built in 2004 or later which require an external power adapter.

short, short, long -->The display is detecting a backlight error. Check your display's power connections and restart the computer. If the problem continues, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. this of course could be caused by failed components on the LCD circuit board. You will have to open it up and take a look at the board, check for burned/broken components. Hope this helps, good luck.

My display was accidentally unplugged from my laptop while on and now I have the short long short but i'm using the same power adapter that came with the display and i just plugged it back in. I've tried restarting etc but still short long short. Any suggestions?

Nevermind, i fixed it with the scotch tape jam, worked great!

the short short long indicates a power connection problem and Esger Jellema below solved it just take the connector on your power supply (the one that looks like a usb c type connection ) and unplug it ...and reverse the input 180 degrees and presto no more problem!

I had the short short long flash and flipping my computer power plug 180° solved it for me.

Hi, when you say, "flipping your power supply" do you mean replacing it or something else? I have that same issue with on of my 24-inch cinema display....

tarafından

been struggling to find out how to fix my 30in cinema from the short short long and WALAA! your fix did it just reversed the type c looking plug in to the power block and presto no more annoying flashes was worried that it was a failing backlight or component

Thanks so much for posting

Cheers!

@davesherry I mean take the power plug out of the wall socket, turn it 180 degrees and put it back, so the live wire is on the other pin.
