CDMA version of the fourth generation iPhone. Repair is straightforward, but the front glass and LCD must be replaced as a unit. 16 or 32 GB / Model A1349 / CDMA compatibility.

I can still see the screen but it is very dark.

My sister gave me her iPhone 4 because she thought the screen was broken. If you look carefully you can still see the background and you can make it work, but you have to use the reflection from a light to see what you are doing. I turned the brightness up all the way but it is still dark, so technically the screen is working.

JoeJackson, yes the screen is working from a data aspect, however, the backlight is not. The actual backlight is contained in the LCD assembly, but the inverter circuit and the control are located on the logic board. I would start off by replacing the complete display assembly first. Follow this guide for that. Check your logic board for any charred, burned or missing components. This model does use a coil and an IC to control the backlight, but those are very small components on the logic board. To repair those would require good soldering skills. Check What is the correct backlight coil for iPhone 4 CDMA version? for the location of the coil as well as the IC. Hope this helps, good luck.
