MacBook Pro 13" late 2011 display flicker problem

Hi all,

.

The display on my MacBook Pro 13" (Late 2011) started flickering since morning. The restart screen which is usually gray is now aqua green. And the terminal that is black is yellow!

One of the rubber heels had given off since a while now. And I had not replaced it with a new one. I have a feeling this is because something might be damaged under this rubber heel. The rubber heel in question is the one under the Esc key on the keyboard (top right rubber heel if you shut the lid and flip the MacBook around).

Unfortunately, I do not have Apple Care. My MacBook ran out of warranty like a month ago.

Can someone tell me what component under that rubber heel could be damaged and what is the replacement cost I am looking at given that I do not have an Apple Care plan?

I have a similar issue. My screen flickers when the display is jostled, to the point where I have to wiggle it back and forth a few times to fix itself (but it always starts up again.)

It's exactly the same as what's in this video from YouTube: https://youtu.be/gjaDSE4eDxg

I'm only posting this because the SAME rubber heel on my MacBook came off, under the ESC key. The fitting for the heel is immediately below (or above if your Mac is upside down) the LVDS cable, which connects to the display.

It's not that uncommon for the rubber feet to be snagged pulling them off in the process. That in its self wouldn't damage anything.

Did you drop or get your system wet somehow?

Given the screens condition I suspect you have a LCD screen issue (banged). To make sure connect an external monitor to your system, if the external display looks OK then you know its the display. If on the other hand it looks the same you have a logic board issue (wet).

If you did get your system wet you might be able to fix it by cleaning the logic board. But before we go down that path first see what needs fixing first.

First get your money back! He didn't fix your system. You'll need to visit an Apple Store or real Apple authorized service center.

To isolate the problem see if you can connect your system to an external display so you can tell if the display is the problem or your graphics circuity.
