Which component controls the image displaying on the screen.

I have the same Philips LCD TV 22PFL3504D/F7 and following a power surge the red light would illuminate when plugged in as usual, indicating it was plugged to a power source. However, when I push the power button to turn it on the screen doesn't show anything. It doesn't appear to be receiving any power. What component in the power board would stop the flow if it were to fail?

Judson, there are plenty of components that could fail. With a power surge, check the caps and the mosfets. check for anything that looks unusual, like charred or leaky, or domed caps. There is really not one particular component that fails, but power surges can have a cascading effect. You can now find the service document for the TV at the bottom of the device page, It might help you narrowing the trouble shooting down. Hope this helps, good luck.

Check the zener and shottky diodes too (when you test with your multimeter they should conduct in one direction but not in the other). My 23PFL5522D/12 had blown caps and 2 blown diodes .
