Released in August 2005, the Canon Speedlite 430EX replaces the 420 series. It works with E-TTL II, E-TTL, and TTL autoflash systems.

Canon Speedlight 430EX wont flash. Everything else seems to work?

First of all, excuses for my possible bad English.

The point with the flash is that everything seems to work, I can hear the condensator but the pilotlamp will not start to glow green or red. It's not working at all and the flashlite will not work. When it should be the lamp, I can imagine that at least the pilotlamp will glow up. So, can it be the condensator that is not working anymore?

I hope there is an answer for it. Tnx in advance.

What batteries are you using: Alkaline, Ni-MH, or Lithium? When you replace them do you replace the full set? This is important with rechargeable Ni-MH & Lithium batteries. I mark each battery with a set ID so I always Use & charge them together.

Try a fresh brand new set of Alkaline batteries (4). Does it charge up? Does the flash test button fire off the flash?

If it does then the rechargeable batteries you are using are bad and need replacing.

Wow! Thanks Dan! Now, that was a quick and easy solution. I almost started to take the flash apart. I'm glad I've looked online, before making something (silly).

I have replaced batteries and it's all working again.
