Can A Virus on Windows7 Via Parallels5 affect my Mac?

I run Windows7 Ultimate using Parallels5 on my MacBook. While running a virus scan with "Parallels Internet Security" application, it has discovered a Trojan Package: 'packed.win32.tdss.z". Can this Trojan affect my Mac outside of the virtual machine? I tried ridding of the virus with the software that detected it, but was unsuccessful. Does anyone know what this virus does and how to rid of it?

Not at all, a not only is it impossible for anything to exit that VM, but windows code simply can't execute on a mac, windows viruses work on windows, mac viruses work on macs. Imagine trying to open a windows application on a mac, just can't work.

I think majesty got his pack of cigarettes at the gun store. Walking uninvited into a room with the two of us is just not a good idea. Be advised. Back slowly out the door.

I am REALLY confused right now, someone had an answer, I answered it, now you try to tell me to leave, claim my answer is not an answer, and downvote it.

Despicable, I really thought better of you mayer.

I'd agree that Windows code can't be executed on a Mac, but your Windows partition may end up with a lot of crap on it as a result. More importantly, the Mac can still send out the virus (if it's a worm) to other fellow Windows users and infect them.

yeah but it first has to get out of that VM, which won't happen

To remove Packed.Win32.TDSS.z, you must first stop any Packed.Win32.TDSS.z processes that are running in your computer's memory. To stop all Packed.Win32.TDSS.z processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, search for Packed.Win32.TDSS.z, then right-click it and select "End Process" key.

To delete Packed.Win32.TDSS.z registry keys, open the Windows Registry Editor by clicking on the Windows "Start" button and selecting "Run." Type "regedit" into the box and click "OK." Once the Registry Editor is open, search for the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Packed.Win32.TDSS.z." Right-click this registry key and select "Delete."

Finally, to completely get rid of Packed.Win32.TDSS.z, you must manually remove other Packed.Win32.TDSS.z files. These Packed.Win32.TDSS.z files can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, Packed.Win32.TDSS.z might create a file like

%PROGRAM_FILES%\Packed.Win32.TDSS.z\Packed.Win32.TDSS.z.exe. Locate and remove these files.

Ur the best Mayer, I'll give it a shot and I'll get back to you. In the final part of the process, are these files also under the registry?

tarafından

Mayer, there is no such file under the processes.

This is why I went Mac to begin with. I only use Windows when absolutely necessary, normally stuff involving school.

And here I am about to finish my latest high end build. Tower with multicore AMD and lots of gaming memory. If not for the games I might go Linux but will probably use Win7. Ralph
