N64 Powering on, no video/audio and humming noise

Hi, I just bought a Nintendo 64 the other day. I hooked it up to a HDTV. It worked flawlessly, and in the middle of game play, it shut off, and started making humming noises. I tried messing around with it, cleaning my games, and didn't work. I switched AV cables, nothing. I jiggled the power battery around, and it fixed it for about an hour. I re-seated my jumper pack, and did nothing. I keep messing around and poking at it a lot, and it is now getting no signal for a while. There is a suspicious humming noise coming from the A/C adapter box that plugs into the Nintendo 64, and I get a red power LED. Nothing else, just a no signal screen. I tried everything, dusting out the ports, and it did no good. Would anyone know what I should do?

An A/C adapter box always do a humming noise since it use some alternative current at 60 Hz or 50 Hz, but it is very descrite and you shouldn't normaly notice it.

As you noticed the humming noise(which is not good), try an other A/C adapter box (from a friend,...) or start investing in the A/C adapter box for any short cut, dead fuse, or anything supsect. Be carefull with capacitors in it, make sure they are discharge when working.

Well, I did notice that it sounded similar to a toaster cooking food, but I don't know if it was the Jumper Pack, because I re-seated it a bunch of times, and doesn't work. Would there be any damage to my n64 if the A/C adapter short circuited, or dead fuse?
