I have changed the inverter cable and inverter and screen still dark. comes on for a sec or so then goes blank. is there any other possible problem other than thinking the only next step would be to change the screen?

llnetnet, since you already changed the inverter and the cable but only get backlight for a brief moment, it is most likely that you are having CCFL issues which would require you to replace the LCD. The only other possibility would be the power coming from the logic board to the invert having issues. That would be a board level repair and difficult to diagnose without the proper serial number. The serial number will allow us to determine what hardware your computer has.

1181 for model number and yes I can see screen underneath. Have it hooked up to an external monitor to use the laptop. I have the a1181
