vibration no longer working after screen replacement

I've looked around online and I've found several posts of users having this same problem, but I haven't been able to find any solutions or even suggestions.

I had a cracked LCD, replaced it with a new LCD assembly(whole front piece with glass\lcd\side button flex cable, etc. I made sure to move the vibraflex cable over from the old assembly to the new one, reassembled, and everything works fine, except there's no vibration at all. There seems to be a string of other owners with the exact same problem in the nokia forums over here:

I had the same issue with a customers 1520, after fiddling round with it for a bit I noticed that some of the soldered points on the back of the screen assembly weren't covered like on the original screen. These points are located to the left of the circuitry that shows through the mid frame at the top end.

Since vibration worked on the original screen, I insulated those points and hey presto! Vibration returned. Give this a shot.

Good response above from AngryLemur -- my guess as to why this worked is that the non-insulated area on the replacement assembly is making some direct contact with the rear of the motherboard when reassembled, possibly creating a short that affects the vibration module. Probably a few small cut-outs of electrical tape where the spots should have been insulated sounds like it would do the trick. I'd also make sure during reassembly that the protective plate covering the vibration module is properly in place / physically present (only way to check this is to take the back housing off the phone).

@brendanomara Thanks for the support, sorry I didn't take a pic guys but it likely left my hands before i would have had a chance to. Just in general, try to insulate anything that is insulated on the original parts!

Can you take a pic of the points you're referring to? I believe you're talking about the areas where there are white squares on the back of the assembly, but not sure. As well, what did you use to insulate the points?

I found that on mine the pins on the back of the motherboard weren't making sufficient contact with the ribbon cable. What I did to fix was to put some layers of painters tape below the ribbon where it touches the LCD housing to push it up towards the motherboard. Once I did this it worked again.

I 've had the same issue with my Galaxy A12 after screen replace, and then I found your comment, and gave it a try. It works like a charm!

(PS: I sticked the painters tape (2 layers) below the vibration motor, to the little plastic "pool" to raise the motor up a bit, because I bought an original screen with an aftermarket frame, and the frame doesn't have some cut outs on it. )

Same problem here. The square ribbon cable which the vibrator resides on could have been slightly damaged in my case. Or it was one of the motherboard connectors that was bent.

It should be possible to test the vibrator by giving it some low voltage.

I don't think the screen is the issue for me though. I have two 1520s, one has the vibration problem (looks like last owner replaced screen) and one doesn't (I replaced the screen myself). I then needed to swap the screens on the devices (the one I replaced was third party and had light bleed while the other was OEM with the att logo). I swapped the screens (and even swapped vibration motors, just in case) and the one original without vibration still has no vibration (other one has no problem still). So for me, it looks like a motor issue or Mb issue. Ymmv?

Hmm,intersting. Ive ordered supposed new motors and some that were pulled from phones, but tested to still world. None of them work. I though Mb issue, but it worked perfectly fine before I swapped out the screen. It just doesn't make sense it would be the Mb.

After searching online, I was led to check a smd fuse under the heat shield between SC card reader and the camera. There is a brown component by itself. That is the fuse. It is supposedly a .5A fuse, but I'm having trouble resourcing that part. Anyone have a good source for parts like these?
