Do you think this component is replaceable?

Macbook Unibody A1278 2.4ghz 661-4819, 661-5102, 820-2327-A

Symptoms? Non-working Wifi card and USB. Hardware determined to be the issue due to...well...see for yourself.

I'll be replacing the wifi connector cable/connector cable as it's frayed which caused the problem. Now to the headache, I'm fairly talented with a soldering iron. But for the life in me, I am unable to locate a schematic for this logic board or even a fair description of the component. If I can finally get a description, where about can I get this fuse/diode/or resistor? Also, is it worth a try? or just buy the new and expensive logic board up front? You would be a life saver.

p.s. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated if I am able to fix it.

Not sure but there seems to be damage on this board. A close-up pict of the section at the right just under the fan (first pict) would be needed to evaluate the damage.

+ good eyesight my friend. That is reference designator L3404 which is a 120OHM 1.5A filter available at places like this

oldturkey, I don't have the schematic for this board only the bord view file. Could you identify the C3420-C3421-C3422 caps values around the L3404. I think these should be also tested and maybe replaced. OP could order them with the L3404 if needed.

tarafından

lemerise, sure can. C3420-10UF 10V 20% capacitor in a 0805 package, C3421 and C3422 are both O.1uF 10V 20 % capacitors in a 0402 package.

Exactly spot on. I'm looking at the board traces now and it looks fairly damaged enough that pads for the capacitor lifted. I'm thinking at this point it would be best to reflow it by removing the surrounding capacitors, brushing it down, fluxing it, and then reflowing them on again. Any thoughts?

I did manage to find the parts too. Any thoughts on precautions of the installation?
