Replaced the airport extreme card because the other card did not work. This new card works about 25 percent of the time after I restart the computer. if i put computer to sleep it may or not work on awakening. If I shut down may or may not work. Could the card be faulty. has only been in about a week.

Did the old card suffer similar problems? If so it may be the Logic Board.

The old card would not work at all . The old card is in a protective antistatic pouch on my desk.
If you feel courageous enough, try swapping out another airport card and see if that works, if it still doesn't work half the time then its most likely the logic board. Another alternative is to get a USB wifi adapter, but be careful to find ones that are mac compatible!
